Topic: "Sober; Of Sound Mind. Going Beyond The Program & Finding Real Healing with Plant Medicine"
Description: After 16 years in recovery, Beverly Hur did everything “right” as committed, consistent, accountable. And still, something felt stuck: emotional flare-ups, difficulty truly connecting, and an old reflex to withdraw when she was hurt. Meditation and breathwork helped, but she kept sensing there was something deeper asking to be met.
That search led Beverly through somatic healing and into plant medicine work where long-held trauma finally released and she began to feel truly clear, steady, and “of sound mind.” The painful twist was that this healing also separated her from the recovery identity and friendships she’d built for years. She lost a network… and found a deeper kind of community. In this talk, Beverly shares what she learned, what it cost, and what “sobriety” means to her now: integrity, presence, connection, and real joy.

SPEAKER BIO
Speaker: Beverly Hur, Chek Practitioner
Beverly Hur is a CHEK Practitioner, wellness educator, and guide-in-training devoted to helping people heal at the intersection of body, mind, and spirit. Her path has been anything but linear: she began with a degree in Anthropology, moved into sales, and later returned to school to earn a geology degree—eventually landing a role with Halliburton. After years of working toward a coveted position on the geosteering team, the disruption of Covid, layoffs, and the eventual shutdown of the U.S. team became a clear turning point—one that confirmed what she already felt in her heart: it was time to follow a deeper calling.
For over 30 years, Beverly has been a devoted student of nutrition and fitness, long before she ever imagined it could become her life’s work. When she discovered the CHEK Institute, everything clicked. Her professional training soon opened an even deeper chapter of healing: through her CHEK journey, she was introduced to plant medicine work. Her first ceremony was intense, unexpected, and ultimately life-changing—opening the door to healing childhood trauma and reconnecting her to Spirit.
Today, Beverly supports clients in addressing physical, mental, and emotional challenges with a grounded, holistic approach that gently weaves in connection to Source, Spirit, and the Divine. Her practice has continued to expand alongside her own healing, including an apprenticeship to facilitate ceremonies. Beverly has also stepped into teaching—building an online platform and leading workshops in Santa Barbara and beyond on health and wellness tools, the Divine Feminine, and the power of embracing elderhood within community. She brings lived experience, compassion, and reverence to every room she enters, offering an invitation to meet life with greater freedom, purpose, and gratitude.
