Interactive Workshop: "Waking Up! An Interactive Journey into Dreams, Mind, Death, and the Fate of the Soul"

Description: What do dreams, death, and the fate of the soul have in common? More than you might think. Joseph Grimes takes us on an interactive journey through the nature of dreams and the mind, drawing from Ancient Egypt, the Greeks, Tibetan Dream Yoga, the Bardo Thodol, and Timothy Leary's psychedelic translation of it all. This is an open, participatory exploration designed to shake loose tightly held beliefs and invite genuine curiosity about why we're here and where we're going.

When: Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 5pm to 9pm (Workshop at 6:30pm)

Where: LoDo Studios, 216 E. Gutierrez Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101
(Please only park across the street on the Office Max side of the lot.)

Members are Free to attend The District House evenings, and are prioritized when we reach capacity.

Guests Welcome to purchase $25 tickets to The District House evenings.

Note: We will not be filming the workshop. Refreshments provided.

FACILITATOR BIO

Facilitator: Joseph Grimes | Spiritual Adventurer & Author

Joseph Grimes has traveled the globe in search of spiritual traditions and written two books, one on Zen Buddhism, Platonism, and the monistic life, and one on his Near-Death Experiences. He has died twice and somehow returned, toured and lectured at the University of California on NDEs, and grew up alongside Alan Watts, Joseph Campbell, and a lineage of Chan Buddhist monks and Zen teachers. His study of dream theory spans Jung, Plato, Aristotle, Tibetan Dream Yoga, Ancient Christian Discourse, and Hinduism, and he brings rare, out-of-print texts from these masters into the room with him.
