Topic: "Exploring The Natural Roots of Our Holidays"

Description: Why does Santa come down the chimney? Why do we blow out candles on a birthday cake? Simple questions. Surprisingly deep rabbit hole.

When Victoria Siegel started asking these questions after the birth of her son, she expected easy answers. What she found instead was a trail of breadcrumbs stretching across history, archaeology, linguistics, and cultures separated by thousands of miles, all pointing to the same recurring symbols, seasonal rhythms, and earth-based practices.

Approaching it the way an engineer would, she followed the patterns until they led somewhere unexpected: to the origins of religion itself. This isn't a lecture. It's an invitation to look again at the things you think you already know, the traditions you inherited, the stories you were handed, and what you might choose to pass forward. The roots go deeper than most of us have been told. Come find out how deep.

SPEAKER BIO

Speaker: Victoria Siegel, Engineer/Herbalist

Victoria Siegel spent her career thinking like an engineer: follow the patterns, trace the connections, don't stop asking questions. When she turned that same lens on the holidays after the birth of her son, she expected simple folklore. Instead, she found herself deep in comparative religion, archaeology, and linguistics, uncovering symbols and seasonal rhythms shared across cultures in ways that felt far too consistent to be coincidence. What started as "what's really going on with Santa?" became a full investigation into the origins of ritual, belief, and the traditions we inherit without question. Alongside this research, Victoria co-founded Rational Body with her husband, a family company built on regenerative sourcing and the belief that understanding our environment is inseparable from nourishing ourselves. She lives in Danville, CA with her family.
