Death, Psychedelics & Rebirth Interview & Workshop with Dream Mullick

This past week at The District House, our community gathered for an evening that was both profound and deeply healing. We were honored to welcome Dream Mullick, who traveled from Hawai‘i to share her wisdom and presence with us here in Santa Barbara.

The night began with an intimate interview led by Hannah Jo, where Dream explored the relationship between death and psychedelics. With compassion and clarity, she spoke about death as a teacher — one that invites us to live with more courage, love, and presence — and about psychedelics as allies in dissolving fear and opening us to the mystery.

From conversation, we moved into experience. Dream then guided us through a 60-minute meditative journey of death and rebirth, supported by a gifted sound healer who filled the space with intuitive layers of sound. From gongs and chimes to the sounds of flowing water, wind, and the natural world, the music wove perfectly with Dream’s guidance.

Participants lay down on mats or rested on couches, eyes closed, as the room became a sanctuary for release and renewal. Together, we traveled through cycles of letting go, dissolution, and return — a practice that felt especially powerful in the container of community.

The evening was more than a meditation; it was a collective remembering. In facing death together, we opened to life more fully. In listening to the sounds of nature and cosmos, we found ourselves mirrored in their rhythms.

At District216, we believe in the power of community, art, and psychedelics to transform how we live and relate to one another. Nights like this remind us why we gather: to heal, to connect, and to expand consciousness in safe, supportive ways.

We are deeply grateful to Dream for making the journey to be with us, to Hannah Jo for holding the space with grace, and to every member of our community who showed up with openness and courage.
