Sold-Out Film Screening Recap: Music for Mushrooms at The District House

Healing Through Sound, Ceremony, and Community

This week at The District House, we hosted a sold-out community screening of Music for Mushrooms, the powerful new documentary from multidisciplinary artist and ceremony guide East Forest. The energy in the room was electric—filled with seekers, creatives, and conscious explorers eager to dive into a film that blends music, psychedelics, and spiritual transformation.

Music for Mushrooms is more than a film—it’s an invitation. The 82-minute narrative feature follows East Forest (Krishna-Trevor Oswalt), known for his collaborations with Ram Dass and his boundary-pushing ambient music, as he documents his journey creating ceremonial concerts designed to guide participants through inner healing. The film beautifully weaves personal reflection, emotional release, and the healing potential of psychedelics with an immersive soundscape.

The audience was moved. There were moments of laughter, quiet tears, and shared awe as we collectively experienced this deeply resonant story. It’s rare to find a piece of art that feels like both a documentary and a ceremony in itself.

We were also honored to welcome our partners at Frequency, who brought their microdose products and shared information about their Frequency House location in Topanga Canyon. This intentional space serves as a sanctuary for medicine journeys, breathwork, and healing events. Their presence added an additional layer of grounded insight and support to the evening’s atmosphere.

At District216, our mission is to create spaces where healing, art, and community intersect. Nights like this remind us why we do what we do—offering not just education, but real connection.

If you missed the screening, we’ll be hosting more soon. In the meantime, donations to support the filmmaker and the ongoing message of Music for Mushrooms are still welcomed.

Stay tuned for more film nights, workshops, and conversations designed to expand your heart and open your mind.

Also, a special thanks to our sponsor Frequency for supporting this beautiful film, and the District216 community.
